The St. Michael's School of Theology continues!
Each session we will look closely at one or more poems from the tradition and at least one modern / contemporary poem, with a nod to others that are related. We will pay attention to the poems as poems, as well as to content. The approach will be eclectic, rather than scholarly. On the way participants will find out who first said Milton (Paradise Lost) was “of the Devil’s party without knowing it,” what contemporary poet Andrew Hudgins has to say about Mary Magdalene’s left foot, and why “Jorge the church janitor finally quits”; explore changing perceptions of nature; and perhaps, just perhaps, encounter something of transforming power. Ila Abernathy facilitates. Some related books to this and previous classes are shown below. Any Amazon purchases made through this page or our news blog will help to support St. Michael's. More Adult Education Opportunities Lectionary Bible Study continues with two opportunities to attend. Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM and Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. The Bible Study is facilitated by our own Peter Schmidt and takes place in the Womble Library. All are Welcome. Women's Bible Study continues each Wednesday evening in the Parish Center at 6:30 PM. All women are invited. |
